In this post is a document released by Council under GIPA that is worth a read. My interpretation of the two letters included is that Council says risk was not the reason the trees were removed. Which surprises me not at all. I’m just surprised to see it in writing. (more…)

Water levels – and other drips
March 26, 2013In the process of looking at Easter getaways online I found a 2012 story about a 15 million-year-old lake system that I’d never heard of. It’s to the west of Sydney and is a series of five lakes some of which remind me of the little pond near Tourle Street bridge (pictured).
It’s part of a World-Heritage-listed National Park.
The system is called the Thirlmere Lakes. Sounds like a lovely peaceful place to go. Except that the water level has dropped to almost nothing. (more…)
