  • The keys of the Regal cinema will be handed to the Friends of the Regal this week and after renovation the cinema will open, probably early next year.

And let us never forget that Cr Scott Sharpe was the lone councillor who voted against saving the Regal.

  • I finally looked at the glossy brochure that came in the mail from Council. You’ll be happy to know that Council spends 21% of its expenditure on ‘Open and Collaborative leadership’, 22% on ‘Protected and Enhanced Environment‘ and 20% on ‘Vibrant and Activated Places‘.

Whatever all that means. Workshopped names for departments. Money wasted on unnecessary paper and printing – it’s so colourful and shiny. ..

  • And re wasting money – Council considered spending $750 000 on the Bolton Street car park to – wait for it – increase its value. Great financial managers, whoever suggested that. Probably the same team who came up with the idea to give beautiful Wickham School building to the Samaritans for $1.

Well, how cheered was I when I read that Councillors rejected all tenders for Bolton Street and will not proceed with the contract. Well done. I’m amazed.

Talk soon. Home
