Work on trees likely to start again 12 October

by

Please come to Laman Street at 5.30am on Wednesday 12 October 2011. New fences are up and we expect chainsaws to start.  We need all the support possible.   Come and help save the trees.

    No mention at Council tonight?

  2. Andy Says:

Why aren’t the councillors listening to the public? Many cities around the world have huge fig trees in public places, but don’t see the need to destroy them. This is a very sad time in the history of Newcastle and I dread to think what their next act of vandalism might be.

I can understand what is happening….how can they cut down these beautiful trees that still have a hundred to 2 hundred years of life left in them. This council has to be from some other country….to be able to do as they please and not care about the public wishes….I just can’t believe what they are aloud to do. To cut down these beautiful living trees makes me feel sick. They are part of Newcastle’s history. IT IS WRONG….SO WRONG.
