Newcastle Council has decided on the composition of its Working Party on the Laman Street Trees.

Here’s the advertisement:

‘Expressions of Interest.

Laman Street Tree Working Party.

Community and technical representatives.

The City of Newcastle is seeking to appoint representatives to its Laman Street Trees Working Part, including:

  • two community members
  • three technical specialists (1 urban/landscape designer, 1 arboriculturalist and 1 risk management practitioner)

 The working party will also include:

  • Four councillors (yet to be determined with one from each ward)
  • Council’s Acting General Manager (Chair)
  • Two Council Directors (Future City and Liveable City)
  • Council’s Infrastructure Management Services Manager

 The Working Party is being established to provide advice to the Urban Planning & Design Advisory Committee on the Laman Street Trees.

The working party has three objectives:

  1. Advise Council on the implementation of the Council resolution of 14 December 2010
  2. Seek evidence-based solutions
  3. Ensure Council’s duty of care and legislative responsibilities are met

Expressions of interest are sought from interested persons with relevant skills and expertise.
